Cathays Cemetery Heritage Walk: graveyard voices
13 November 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
| FreeGathering in the restored Victorian Gothic mortuary chapels and at gravesides, participants in this free event will hear the remarkable history of Cathays Cemetery, the UK’s third largest.
Actors and musicians will bring the history of this unique site to life through presentations of stories about those buried in the cemetery. These ‘Graveyard voices’ span the Victorian era well into the 20th century and range from the rich, heroic or esteemed to the profoundly tragic and emblematic. This event will feature a preview of the Cathays Cemetery podcasts due to be launched on 14 November. An open discussion about the cemetery and participants’ personal relationship to it will take place after the heritage walk.
